Meet Our Pastor
Reverend Daphne C. Fraser

Reverend Daphne C. Fraser serves as the Pastor of John Wesley United Methodist Church in Annapolis, Maryland. An Itinerant Elder, Reverend Fraser brings a wealth of experience and a heart for ministry, having previously served as Senior Pastor at Fairview United Methodist Church in New Windsor.

Reverend Fraser holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Potomac College and a Master of Divinity (M.Div.) from Wesley Theological Seminary. Guided by the belief that “with God all things are possible,” she is passionate about empowering the downtrodden, underprivileged, and forgotten. Her ministry is shaped by a global vision, focusing on uplifting women, children, and families through education and spiritual growth.

She is actively pursuing a Diaspora Initiative, “Daughter of A Global Mission,” dedicated to eradicating poverty and improving lives, inspired by Matthew 25:35-37. Her latest project, “Fresh Bread 4 Your Spirit,” creates safe spaces for women from all walks of life to nurture meaningful relationships with God.

Beyond her pastoral duties, Reverend Fraser is a proud mother of two daughters, Dezne and Dawn Ashley Fraser. She serves on the boards of Pan African Collective (PAC), Women Empowered to Achieve The Impossible (WETATi), and the Jocord Children’s Foundation. Reverend Fraser is also a sought-after facilitator for women’s retreats and workshops across the U.S. and internationally.

A strong advocate for education, Reverend Fraser believes it is the key to an enlightened life. She draws inspiration from her favorite scripture, I Corinthians 15:58:
“Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye steadfast, unmovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, for ye know that your labor is not in vain in the Lord.”

JW History
150 Years of God's Faithfulness The Beginning Years of Promise-1875

John Wesley Methodist Episcopal Church was built on Annapolis Neck Road with the cemetery occupying the adjacent property in 1875.  It stood as a beacon for the Annapolis Neck Community until it was consumed by fire in the early 1930's.  As a result of that fire, many of the church's documents were destroyed.

During the year of 1890, a few men and women living in Eastport desiring to worship in the "Methodist" faith decided to hold meetings in an old wood shed on the property of Mr. James Anderson.  The following ear 1891, this group of worshippers formed a congregation and became a part of the "Severn Circuit".  In 1891, a larger church was build at 612 Second Street and named Mount Zion.  John Wesley, Fowlers Chapel were united and became the "Eastport Circuit" in 1899.

The existence of John Wesley for all these years is evidence that it has the ability to learn from it's many challenges.  By faith we were able to solve and overcome the many adversities of kingdom building.  We were able to continue to move faithfully and testify to the faith of past and current members, who continue to be dedicated leaders and worshippers of the church.  John Wesley sprung forth from a humble beginning, with much faith, great pastors, thriving leadership, committment and dedication.  Those who continue the journey will stand at the threshold of God's sanctuary in the presence of John Wesley's future.

Some of the earlier saints of the church were:  Thomas Kent, Sr., Daniel Forrester, Anthony Murray, Robert Isaacs, Jesse Brashears, Clinton Wallace and Moses Gross.  Numerous items were purchased or donated to the church.  Inclusive of the property for the church, the cemetery, and the parsonage were a piano, bibles, hymnals, altar crosses, communion set, offering plates, lectern for the altar, guest registers, and a Christian flag.  Some of the organizations of the church were te Ladies Aid Society, Women's Home Missionary, Society, Epworth League, Ladies Auxillary, and The Who-So-Ever-Will Club.  The following organizations were established at John Wesley:  Singing and Praying Band, WIlling Workers, Building Fund Committee, Buying Committee, and the Senior Gospel and Youth Choirs.
